Does anyone know how much a rollcage will cost? The cage would be a full cage not half cage. As far as I know the latest FIA(?) regualtions state that the cage has to be made
from steel and not aluminium. How hard is it to put the rollcage in yourself?
At the moment my car is a shell with running gear and nothing in the interior. Is it best to put the cage in BEFORE I paint the car, or AFTER I paint the car??
Cheers
Simon

Roll cages are quite expensive around $3000 for a good job. Theres a certain gauge steel u have to use when making a roll cage, check with FIA or Cams to find out exact specs. Im
pretty sure making one yourself would be a pain in the ass if u dont have access to a pipe bender, welders etc. And definatly make the roll cage before u paint the car. Otherwise
you'll find a whole heap of little sparks stuck to your newly painted 1200.

Try calling Bond Roll bars in Sydney(or there abouts). They have drawings for most cars, will cut and bend them up and ship them to you for
you to weld in.
I got one for a rally car from them. I was very impressed.
Well worth a call.

It cost me AUS$850 to my door which is on the other side of the country(many
thousands km's).
It came as a 6 point cage with crossbraces, side intrusion bars, and 4 metres of
additional tubing
to add where we wanted.
A bargain, i thought

Hey thats pretty cheap! I might be interested aswell if they comply with Cams specs. And all u have to do is sit them in place and weld? Do they bolt to the floor using flanges or
do u have to weld them to?? Cheers

Yeah that is cheap! Who did you get it from? Did the kit come with a diagram to suit your 1200 or just a diagram of how the kit
goes in all cars?
An experienced welding workshop wouldnt charge much for the welding up would they? I mean I can weld but not to CAMS specs.

the guy to speak to is the guy from revolution racegear (argile st), he inspects race cars for events like targa and all the main rallys, so aswell as dealing in rollcages he tells you
exactly what you need. ... Another piece of advice is that you may have exhaust shops or friends who say that they can just whip one up on the cheap. DONT LISTEN TO THEM... bars must be
desighned properly ,bent properly and made from the right materials or it will fold in on you when you need it most. ps. mine was a prick to get in, you will need to leave your interia out,
and yes it is good to put it in before painting because its very likely that you will scratch & get welding gunk on your paint + if you do get it painted after you can get the cage done at
the same time,,,,,which reminds me.. for any one out there who wonder how people build show cars with out scratching the paint when installing everything is because they always atleast
trial fit every thing and with engines run them in first to get all the little problems sorted out first,,,just a tip,
KEEP IT ON ALEAST ONE WHEEL AROUND CORNERS
AGR012 hahahaaaaaaaaaaa

They are full weld in units but the plates needed come with the cage. Ours meets
all CAMS specs.
It is well worth having a chat to them as their list of technical drawings is
huge.

Get yourself a CAMS rule book. All they require is a visibly good weld. They require no testing which means pretty mush any coded welder
can do the job.
