Hi Guys.
Yep, I've done a search & looked in the wiki, but still got a few doubts as to what will be best for this car.
I have heard that Skyline (R31)diffs are getting hard to come by, and the few places I've called with no luck.
As for Hilux diffs, is there any one that can help out with any info as to what is involved. I want to keep the same track & 4 stud. Is this possible? Also, what Hilux should I be asking for??
The other option i was thinking is a Commodore rear, as I assume these are the same as the Skyline??

Any companies people have had a good experience with in Adelaide feel free to PM me details.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

You would be surprised what you would find if you look for an 87/88 model R31 pintara diff or whole car they often are in another league but yet so similar. There everywhere over this way could get you an R31 skyline diff tomorrow and at least 2 pintara diffs all with disc brake setup.

Popped into my usual wrecker today as I was going past, he's had one sitting there for me for some time, just hadn't had time to call me... So all good, have to make some calls as to a rebuild, cut & shut. Didn't really want a hilux diff tbh, adding enough weight as it is!

hilux diff is good for strenght vs weight, best quality metal, and if u r going turbo u will need it. most of the 300-400 kw rotors are running them

Hilux diffs are pretty heavy aren't they, compared to the R31. Have talked to a few people who said it should not be a problem with the r31. Will be getting the centre rebuilt anyway to be sure. The car will be a streeter, not going to be driven hard all that often. Definitely not looking for 3-400kw that's for sure!

not much difference between the two in weight
hilux stronger, heaps of ratios, drop out centre, lsd's lockers ,spools etc avail
i dont know why guys go for the r31 diff when after cutting it a ford or commodore diff is the same (except you can get a 4 pinion centre)
all you need is the r31 4 stud axles and brakes
pintara diff has smaller axles

Well, as long as the 31 lsd will hold up I'll be happy.
Dazza, would this have to be a vl turbo rear or the like for LSD? Or do all BW take the same centres. Sorry i'm a bit of a newbie to diffs and what lines up etc..

Thanks sssute.

SRB310, Borg Warner differentials don't have removable centers, they are salisbury type (integral housing). To swap the CRP with another housin you have to disassemble the ring from the pinion. But this makes them lighter than the other type.
