I've just put a weber on my a12, the weber was purchased second hand in poor condition attached to a manifold that think was a L series. I since had it rebuilt with the intention to run it on my a15 project. Since it was just sitting in my shed I thought I would put it use in the mean time on my rebuilt and run in a12.

I got it to run and it sounds great when it's revin but, it will not idle. The car is not tuned the best as I can't get it to idle for me to check the timing. I think another contributing factor to the poor idle is that is would be jetted to suit an L series 1.6-2.0, which I imagine would be a long way off the a12 (with stock ignition.

What jets have people run with this kind of set up?
Is it easy to swap out jets?
Where would I get new jets?

Turns out I have no idle mixture screw....... this might have something to do with the idle problem.

Ahhh yes. If you want one for the time being I have one here from a 28/36 DCD weber. It ought to be the same size, can get you going till you buy another? Can post.

Geez, with no idle mixture screw, you would be going through tanks of fuel ever so quickly. Check your oil for thinning as the fuel would be just pouring into the cylinders at idle.

Ahh okay cool. Gotta be at H & R Block at 6pm (maybe 1 hour??). But after that all good. I'll have a look at it tonight and check it's all good).

But yeah carb would have been pouring fuel in.....Niagra Falls.

You'd be fairly surprised how well the carbs would run with slightly bigger jets in it, I'd say it was drowning it at idle..... like my sidies were when I had the accelerator pump wound up and I cracked the throttle slightly.... literally just poured fuel into the pots.

Tom here is the idle screw the carb it came of is rough and the needle is quite round at the end. I thought they'd need to be a little sharper to ensure a precision mix.

This is from a weber DCD carb but it should be similar.

Let me know what you want to do, I'll be back by 7.30. Chris

This looks very similiar to the 32/36 screw, but im only gauging that by diagrams, cant imagine it would be to different. Plus anything would be an improvement.

The one i ordered was NOS apprently... SO it should be nice and sharp.

Ill see you at 7.31.

Got a chance to try out this screw today. It didn't fit, due to the fact that there IS a screw in there. It's a small flat head, I could only see it looking straight down the screw hole, which involved climbing over the engine.

Set it to base/lean setting but didn't have time to tune it properly, so it's still not idling but it will with some tinkering.
