Still with a SAD FACE.
Been waiting for 2 months for new 0.5mm oversize pistons to be made for the CA18DE
yes you can buy CA18DET pistons almost from the supermarket or the local milk bar but they are only 8.5:1 or 9:1 compression ratio ... the naturally aspirated 'DE' has 10:1 compression
- not available off the shelf

again .... SAD FACE - ute sitting in my workshop waiting

Anyone know where to get pistons made that are not sourced from billets from either 'JE' or 'CP' ?

Any luck yet? I searched all the piston manufacturers I could think of (Arias, Carillo, Mahle, Endurotec) and also drew a blank.

Surely Nissan must have thought someone would be reconditioning these engines in the future and produced oversized pistons themselves.

Maybe you need to get the block sleeved down to stock dimensions 😡
Or find a suitable piston from another vehicle.

Tried those contacts etc .... (thanks for the replies)

Latest is that the billets will be supplied within 2 weeks. Then machining pistons. Then machining block and balancing. Then reassembling everything.
There's some light at the end of the tunnel.
Maybe I should rewire the car again

it's in build and going in .... 8 months of delays getting the pistons made and sized. It better last forever (says the finance manager)

Nice! where did you source the custom pistons? All those USA companies don't list them on their web site, but will make custom pistons to order

Custom billets cast and machined in USA then imported and balanced together with rods and crank, etc here on Oz.
Probably the most expensive NA engine rebuild for a CA .... but it is what it is

Good to see some progress. When will you have the motor back with you for the install?

Give me a call if you need a second set of hands to get it back in.
