Im wondering if something like this comes up often
on ebay while the oz dollar is strong ;(
what a bargain and why would anyone buy a holden
astra or monaro coupe when you can have this beast

view the pics and about the only thing that relates
a datsun 1000 to the Stingray is the front suspension :)

I think a lot of us would love to get our hands on something like that, if I had the money i'd get a '69 RS/SS Camaro in a heartbeat. But being left hand drive, a hell of a lot to import and the fact they're not exactly practical stops a lot of us from buying something like that though I guess. Hmm that Stingray is SCREAMING for an LS3 conversion! :P

Not to mention that you can't bring modified cars in anymore... they have clamped the rules on modified chassis and engine conversions

But yes I'd buy a true US musclcar before I bought an XU1, A9X or GT

However... the HK Monaro in silver mink with red interior (327 of course) is my "nut" car.... I'd give my leftie for one
Its easily the sexiest shape ever built in this country

pre 1980 cars dont need to be converted to RHD and pay 5% import duty no GST.
Shipping can now be had for under $3000

Where is the problem? LOL

I still would be nice to see a narrow version of the chevy v8
a 60 degree 3 valver pushrod with 115mm bores and 70mm stroke
uneven inlet valves for extra swirl and direct injection.

Its actually no import duty and 10% GST still to pay on cars older than 1988
But if the car is too high priced it still attracts luxury car tax

I just brought a Cadillac in
The issue is modified vehicles

And depending where you live... like say.. Adelaide... they make you jump thru some pretty firey hoops
No modified LHD cars... if you want to keep it original... then thats how it stays , wheels , no visible stereo , etc
So do lots of research and speak to an importer BEFORE buying a car
