Type 161 are known here as T10 or T3.25 (3-1/4) "miniature wedge" http://www.donsbulbs.com/cgi-bin/r/b.pl/161.html
#7 - Dash indicator lamps

The round Dash T/S are type 1445 (known here as BA9s "miniature bayonet"), but are low power 1.7 watt. http://www.donsbulbs.com/cgi-bin/r/b.pl/1445.html
They seem bright enough.

Bummer! These bulbs that I bought are just a tad too long in the bulb. Enough to not fit in the dome recesses in the tacho. I'm wondering if there is any way to make a spacer so the part that clips in sits back a little and allows the bulb to clear? Any one have any suggestions how to do this without fouling the operation of the bulb? Cheers.

you could file down the bulb a bit, it's just plastic (acrylic?) You can go almost all the way down to the two bits of metal that hold up the tiny piece of silicone that is the actual LED element.

Cheers Lamb. Can't tell if they are plastic or glass, but without the bulb fully enclosed won't that be a fire hazard?

Has anyone else run into this problem before? What was the solution? Cheers.

Remove the green coloured dome from the tacho then all is good.
These LED's should not produce enough heat to be a fire hazard.

Did you do that on yours Levey? I would have to take apart the whole tacho?

I think from memory I used a soldering iron to melt a hole in it. Same result in the end but with different coloured LED's you would want the coloured filter removed anyway.

Cheers. I'll use my soldering iron to do the same.
