hi i was wandering in your typical dcg306 carb the primary and secondary throttle shaft come out through under the jet plugs and i have just figured when i spray starting fluid thier the idle smooths out but in the primary side it seems thiers no leak.

so my question is should this area be fully leak free like 100% or is it normal to see a bit of an leak?

also this is a new carby i got from ebay.

thanks.

Starting fluid is not a good test.

Try adjusting the a/f mixture using the mixture screw.

try carb cleaner or WD 40 - less volatile, ether will drift into the carb. If idle smooths out when you spray it on the throttle shaft its likely got a bad bushing. Try wiggling the shaft while spraying & see if that affects the idle as well.
