This is an ebay listing,
Wondered if anyone knows how to hook this up.. looks like the plug is different and there is an extra wire with a female round connector.

bidding says that it fits a 71-73 1200

You're right -- 1971-1973 1200 doesn't use one like that.

If you need a regulator, I recommend going to NAPA and get a 35A internally-regulated alternator for 1980 Datsun 720 pickup (not the 60A, but the 35A). It is a direct bolt-on for the stock 1200 alternator and has more reliable solid state regulator built in.

This new-type alternator is less expensive here ($50) than a voltage regulator by itself!

The one pictured on eBay is a New Era 522 unit.

The extra wire is a for IGN, which seems superflous since the rectangular connection already connection an IGN pin.

I suppose they made it this way so it fits a variety of cars including Datsun, Toyota and Hino.

Nissan 23100-B9810 (Mitsubishi A1T22971/Hitachi LR135)

It is too simple for a wiring diagram. After you install the LR135 alternator, disconnect the old external regulator, and in the engine-harness connector, jump the White/red wire to the White/black wire.

Yes, that one will work. It is not original, but is probably IC (solid state) so better than original.

Just got to thinking, if you have a 1973 1200 with automatic-choke, then you need two wires.
