Hy ddgonzal. It is a ute ,1200 datsun,I believe it is the B110 model,my brother got it from Ecuador, yes, you are right...Ecuador,the country. The 1200 ute was made in Ecuador ,and I am not sure if it is still being made there. It was made in Ecuador to up to 3 years ago.Ecuador has many parts for this ute,it is very popular over there, all around working truck, economical and versatile. It has a small cabin,I 've seen others in the photoalbums and there is a kind that looks like it has an extra cabin,or an extra space,my bro's has a single cabin. I will bring in pictures of it for you guys to see. He had a header(extractors) made and has a 32/36 weber. It is a cross country truck, not a road, low stance truck. It is used at the beach, for surfing, travel, etc. It came with the square front headlamps like the south african 1200 ute,but my brother already installed the round headlamp assembly(ala 1200 car). I will find out exactly what kind it is. The plan is to build it as a rally truck.
Cheers
Jaime.

What we are dying to know is ... do you have the ute here in the US, or is it in Ecuador?

My brother has a surfing/watersports hotel by the beach on the border of Ecuador and Peru. The truck is there. I thought about bringing it here, but being the smog laws over here so damn messed up,I would rather keep it there. Over there you can install a jet engine in it if you want, there are no rules for changing engines, all you got to do is change the engine number in your registration for the new engine's number. Here in US,it would have to be retrofitted with the smog devices, which that engine does not have,or else it would never be registered legally. You will see it once I get the pics in the internet.

To bring it here would be to distroy it,a 1200 american datsun is a 72 or 73 car which is alreeady exempted from smog laws(in California, any vehicle 1973 or older does not need to comply w/the smog regulations),this ute is a 199something,we would have to wait 30 years to have it exempted.I do not want to deal with that.
I have never seen any utility trucks 1200 datsun in the US. Only sedans and coupes.

I obtained the car in 2018 after losing an auction on it in 2011 or 2015 i believe? Can't remember. I am the 2nd owner since the original poster of this thread. My plan is to restore the car to a TS style inspired cup racer.
