Hey guys, what would be the easiest/cheapest engine swap for a 82 ute out of, Sr20de, Ca18de, and a 4AGE? Cheers Cody

Speak to engineer first. They all have pros and cons. If you can find a s15 varietta sr20de neo they have same power as na as aus delivered sr20det in s15.
Have you also thought of Toyota altezza 4cyl import motor. Love to rev.3sge vvtli.

the sr and ca will possibly be easier with more off the shelf conversion parts available
but the the 4a is physically smaller so it may prove to be the easiest

i cant tell you which would be the least expensive, but i can tell you that none of them will be 'cheap'

good luck

Well what would be the least expensive then, I am thinking the 4AGE because it is smaller so I don't think you need to cut the firewall or trans tunnel at all

You won't have to cut the firewall for any of them, 4age could be a pain as most times you have to convert the motor to rwd, which involves messing around with water lines etc, Sr and ca would be equally as easy

Do you have to cut the trans tunnel with the 4age though?

I would assume so? If its anything like using a T50 behind an A serious. the T50 is a longer box, but should fit comfortably in an auto tunnel(unsure about manual tunnel, just the selector hole is different) Some one please correct me, if it seems Im talking out of my arse here.

You can fit a ca box in a standard manual tunnel if you make your engine xmember to suit, seen it done, but overall a tunnel isn't hard to do anyway
