Hi all -- was on SPEEDHUNTERS and saw something interesting for those of you who have a few bucks left after the festive season.[FEW bucks] cos they say it won't come cheap.This is for the L series chaps who have an L series or want a L series in their 1200's. As the heading says OS GIKEN.Also watched the vids 1st is in car so went next 2 drift then the 1st drag is a supra and a red 1200 -- looks like the 1200 won.So there you have it all the new kit for your L series [1800sss]. just google speedhunters and then use their search --OS GIKEN TC16 --Engine porn at it's best. cheers enjoy

hey no need to thank me.I went back and read some of the comments --could'nt believe it. A chap from the USA said he asked about the head and they said 32000US.---ouch but then again they say dont believe e/thing you read.

Lampy from Ozdat got Les Collins to build him a 270-280hp 2L L18 series with Ka24de head and billet crank.
Dpent about 8-10k less than the OS Giken conversion. The KA head uses very simple mods along with a toyota 18RG crank chain cog and modded L series tensioners.
That OS giken figure could be made with carbs using an untouched KA24de head with wolf cams, headers and slightly prepped L20b bottom end (prepped rods, KA pistons, timing chain, custom sump) at 8000rpm.

On another hand those not after big hp but good fun. The local lads here in Japan love their 310 sunnys for daily tight roads in constant mountain terrain but prefer a punchy A15 as its supposedly very noticeable compared to bigger heavier engines. They mainly drift their Sunnys with the risk of going off down mountain sides to their graves so I will take their choices as logical. However most of these fellas weigh in at 50-60kg compared to me who is trim at 82kg or the extra L series weight :)

That KA24DE head might technically be the equal -- both are 16-valve designs -- but the OS Giken TC16 has a more historied past since 1973

Ill take an L18 K24DE hybrid over that any day as it needs double the legal tender
to get the rest to make it work and then only make less than the better later head.
The looks of the KA24DE is still period and Les Collins ported heads have more flow
than any sr16/20ve modified head and closer to the qr25de heads.

Great to keep record of these treasured bits DD and they are really for the serious
enthusiast even a great investment for hyperinflation just like art.

yeah the KA is a great design. Les got 282 hp out of an L18 by using the KA head
