Hi all,

The other day i came across what i thinks a nice little farm find a 520 pick up shes definetly a full resto mostly surface rust only a couple small rust holes all of which doesnt bother me. Im told all parts are there for it grill possibly all 4 hub caps hopefully find out in the days to come. Only thing really missing is badge. Just wondering what they are worth though from something sitting in a paddock for 5 or so years to a fully restored one. Also what other model datsuns will be interchangeable for parts?

Cheers

The Datsun 520 pick-up has the J13 engine. Other Datsuns with same engine type are the 1972-1979 620 pick-up, and the old rare 411 sedan/wagon

520 is a full-frame vehicle so rust in the body panels is not necessarily a structural issue. On the downside, body panel are only interchangeable from another 520, although it is possible to graft on a newer 620 cab or tray

Old paddock finds are not worth much. A non-restored 520 is on Gumtree for $5500 but there are so few of them its hard to judge what they are worth. Autotrader has a nice-looking flat-tray for $1000

The J15 is newer edition of the J13, it came in Datsun 620. Has a few more HP but otherwise the same. That's actually a plus as the J13 was a little underpowered. Neither one are a powerhouse, but they get the job done even so, rugged and dependable they are!

There was one in Melbourne on Gumtree for a few weeks which was an ex bakers delivery van (had a box truck rear on it instead of a ute tub) and they only wanted $300 for it.

I saw it advertised again the other day by its new owner for $450.

I never really rated them, but a quick search of YouTube shows they can be made into a cool ride.

Hey Sunnygirl....does the one you've found have the original ute tub, as this would definitely increase it's value.

Good to know ddgonzal im not after huge power just a good lookin ride.

Unfortunately cadet1200 the one i found doesnt have a tub. The bloke that owns it used to drive it round the farm so its just got a flat tray with wooden deck nothing special. However it will still tidy up real nice
