In general, lowering the Coupe does not require a shorter shock than the stocker. The bump stops prevents the shock from bottoming out.

However, with a longer shock at maximum bump, the shock will run completely out of travel before the axle does. The Koni 80-1551 minimum length is reportedly 10mm longer than the stocker. Which still might be OK but if you trim the bump stop to get even more travel then the Koni is too long

Yes those are the measurements I had.

On my coupe the axle will bottom before the shock does. Note I'm using an H190 rear end.

Thanks for all your help guys.
Ended up hearing nothing further from Protech Shocks so gave up on them and went the Bilstein B6 way (part no. 24004633) which is the same application as the Koni 80 1551 from Rockauto- $88 USD each plus $30 freight.
I can't even buy one Bilstein here in New Zealand for under NZD 300 plus GST.
