GX head??

i am getting a (cheapish) GX head hopefully and was just wondering how much differecne in power i will gain, running a 32/36 and extractors, will i notice and difference????

Sure you'll notice a difference ... the Weber 32/36 alone makes a difference.

Add a camshaft change, and you'll have something similar to the factory GX engine ... for the HP difference see the Tech Section article Datsun A12GX Engine.

does anyone know if it is possible to put a GX on a A14 block?? has anyone done it? what will happen to teh compression?

yeah I've got a GX head on my A14 and A15, you'll het a compression increase by a bit, always good for more horsies!!!!

iv got a , a14 block with a15 crank and a a12gx head, redline manifold and twin 40's 11 to1 comp plenty of head work.starts to make ponies bout 3 revs past 8 easy lota fun

That's the key.

The only advantage the A12GX head has over the A14 oval port is the combustion chamber design. Yes, it has dual valve springs (which is why you can rev it to "8 grand"), but it is easy enough to fit that to other cyl. heads. The A14 head ported will outflow the A12GX head.

So it mainly depends on if you want high compression or not. There is a lot of discussion on this topic if you use the search box you can find it.

Have a chat to Tony Marsh. He should be able to do big valves, a good port without welding and springs for a couple of grand, and he's in auckland. Hes done a lotta nice A series heads.
