What is a torsion rod?
I am thinking about the suspension on Valiants or Morris Majors. They have a torsion bar.

I'm guessing that he needs the forged suspension rod that fits between the outer end of the lower suspension arm, & the foward portion of the chassis.
You know the one, I call 'em strut rods, but i'm sure that they have a proper name.

Nissan calls them "tension rods" -- the threaded rods that go from the front of the car to the a-arms.

They call the lowers arms "tranverse links".

And yes, a torsion bar is a spring. Torsion springs are used in the Datsun 1200 trunk lid hinge.

yeah strut-rod or whatever they call it. I'm looking to buy one of those. Any sources other than the dealer?

Sure, at the wreckers. I doubt if anyone other than Nissan sells new ones.

About half the older-model auto wrecking places here in the Seattle area have at least one B210 in stock ... you might also try the classifieds to see if anyone is parting one out.

I'm not sure but I think the early B210 (1974-?) used a different tension rod than the late B210 (?-1978).

Warning: If you ask the Nissan dealer for a torsion rod, they'll probably get an anti-sway bar since Nissan uses the word torsion for the anti-sway bar.

Some comparison data about the tension rods (B110, B210, B310) is here:
