Throttle Linkage Question

HI
I've got a little problem with the throttle linkage on my Weber DGV i made sure that I did not tighten the bolt too much so it will move nicely
I set the idle speed to specs but if I press on the accelerator pedal the throttle linkage doesnt go back sitting on the idle screw there's a few millimeter gap but if you push it back manually then its on the right idle speed.

checked the accelerator cable already and tried different setting but same problem.

also tried installing a spring connected to the throttle linkage so it will have tension to go back to set location BUT its too much tension on the accelerator pedal that you have to depress the pedal real hard

should I look for another longer spring to compensate the tension?

Any ideas how to solve this problem?

Cheers!

Yes, it needs a return spring.

Had the same problem with my weber a few weeks ago. Turned out it was the little choke linkage that opens the throttle when you pull the choke. Didn't have time to stuff around so I just ripped it off. Also solved my case of idle going out of tune reguarly.

is there any particular return spring that I have to use? The one I tested before was inlcuded with the throttle linkage kit from Lynx which has too much tension

Yesterday I tried different sizes of springs and it still doesnt work properly
it just makes the accelerator pedal really hard to depress and I dont want too much tension on the accelerator cable sooner or later it will brake from too much tension.

the one getting stuck is the Primary Throttle Lever (the one near the body of the carby, the one hits the idle adjusting screw
tried lubricating the throttle assembly and still same problem, also checked the throttle shaft fixing nut and its not too tight.

Do you guys think I need to replace the bushing rataining spring? I tried pulling the throttle lever and I cant take it off... to scared to break sometthing. Do you just slide it out?

Any advice would be great.

one more thing

when I took the throttle linkage and the washers just left the Throttle Lever the problem is solved it stops where it should stop.

I cannot picture what you are describing. Here's what I would do. Go to the library and check out the Weber tuning book. It has a parts breakdown diagram of the DGV, and the specifications on every adjustment. Check out all the linkage areas -- there are some critical adjustments to the linking pieces.

This is why I rarely fully dissasemble a carb. I only take apart as much as needed. Too easy to put it back together out of spec.

Here's a weber explode diagram

I got everything installed the right way

the one I'm talking about is the number 73 in the diagram Primary Throttle Lever, thats the one that hits the idle screw.

I tried loosening the lock nut but still the same problem

also tried different sizes of return spring and no luck

car is idling too high like 200 RPM more

anyone got more advise as I still havent solved the problem

tried carb cleaner as well and sprayed it on the linkage and no effect

if I blip the throttle the idle goes back where it should be idling.

I checked the cable as well if its got broken element or rough but seems pretty good and smooth.

your idle screw is prob not the orginal.

it might have the same thread but is a touch longer.

take it out and slice about 2mm off it with the angle grinder, round the ends off and put it back in.

that should solve the prob.
