i have a small hole at the bottom of the a pillar right at the back of the guards (where arrow points, hope whoevers ute pic i borrowed doesn't mind!)where it looks like a few panels join. Its just at start of the little lipped channel that the top of the guard sits in

It doesn't look like a rust hole and is on both sides, it looks like its just caused by panel alignment. Just wondering if this is common on 1200's, if its a necessary hole for drainage or whether i should just fill it with sealant and paint over it?? thanks

the holes are on both sides and shaped the same just under where the front cowl panel overlaps at each side. I was thinking that they were just drain holes, but i know its a common place for 1200's to rust so now am thinking they are rust holes that have been tidied up and painted??

From the poor panel fit, i would guess these are taiwanese guards. I reckon the panel beater got the #OOPS#s with the poor fit and removed the top corner body tags from the guard. It should have a 6mm metric thread in that hole.

yeah they are taiwanese, but the tab with the bolt hole is still there, with the bolt through it. The holes are only 2-3mm across, obviously must be perfectly mirrored rust holes since no-one else seems to have seen them before!!
