Just curious boy's myself and a couple mate's are considering a 4 link conversion for our 1200 ute's..

We are trying to work out what the easiest and simplest is, along with what will work best in our ute for track day's, hill climb and other event's..

From what we have found, Mcdonald's Racing does a few different types of universal 4-link kits which just need minor modification and purchase of coilovers.. They do both steal and cro-moly 4 link kits..

What im asking is has anyone else used Mcdonalds racing 4 link kits before??

And what is the best setup.. Steel or cro-moly.. and what formation??

Is a Tringle 4 link kit way to extreme for a 1200 ute that is not pushing crazy power and only being used rarely at the track.

Or go down the lines of a simple kit either steel or cro-moly

And what are good coilovers to run with the 4link.. i.e manufacture and size..

Any help would be appreciated trying to find the best way to do this, the fab work i can do but as i have never done it on my 1200 thought i'd get people opinions on what to do.. Then guess go ahead and get it done and rely the info back to others :)

I have paralell 4linked my 1200 sedan with a panard bar.it was a big job but I think it will be a little easier in a ute.i went with a kit from rocket the brand is compitition engeering.it was half the price of Mac bros and will still be fine for my DATTO pushing 450hp.im running rear strange coilovers with a 2.5" spring.have a look in my build thread for pics.just make sure that what the car gets used for that you will benefit from the 4 link as its a lot of work.my reason was only to fit my 17x10" wheels

is the car going to be registered?

Certainly was leaning towards parallel 4-link certainly alot simpler and easier to install plus do the job i need.. Only hard part is working out how much to rotate the diff for the power and angle's but got mates at capital steering and suspension to give me an idea on that..

Cheer's i will have a look for it.. when you say rocket?? are you meaning rocket-performance (http://www.rocketindustries.com.au/)?? and is it on their website??

yeah the car will be registered and i have already had the car inspected and had a couple consultations with John Wilson (Canberra/NSW AKZ vehicle Engineering){http://www.vehicleengineering.com.au/)and it's all fine just needs to meet a couple requirement's when installed but shall be fine.

Yeah that's the site it's all on there website.dosnt matter to much about diff angle because all there bars are adjustable.so you can set it up at 0 deg pinion angle then twist the bars to suit where it needs to be.

Any idea what the diameter of the axle tube hole's should be??

And with the kits from rocket(competition engineering) was there any fab work needed on the kit itself?? i.e axel tube hole's larger or modifying the mounting plates??

well you have to adjust the bars when you want to go racing or just drive it on the street, you'll have to change setups. amount of fab depends on what diff your using

The axle tube hole is 3" which was perfect for my hilux diff.i did modify the mounting plates just to suit the way I wanted to mount my coilovers and front mounting plate
I welded the bracket on the back to mount my coilovers

On the front I notched it around the crossmember to get more of a weld
