Early A12 fit into later A12 crossmember

So Im sh*tcanning my A15 thats been in the car since I built it (flattening cam lobe issues) built an early A12 "race" motor I had laying around - literally! and am looking at the engine mounts - looks to me to be a later crossmember with the LH short mount boss.

I know the RH side motor mount needs a longer plate to mate up to the bracket on the engine but what about the left side? It doesn't really look like it lines up , left side is the shorter boss on the Xmember. were the really early A12 Xmembers on the RH side canted towards the front of the car?

Also wondered if theres a SN breakdown to ID exact age of motor, cant find it in the Wiki..

Thoughts??

Side note - I REALLY hate how the posting of pic's is done on this site. Using Photobucket for years for off site storage but there's no direct cut & paste from my computer storage or from a phone thats not 7 steps for posting pic's....that Im aware of.

There's got to be a better way......

is the URL post button above the only pic post option?

Photobucket is easy ... use "Direct Link" on Photobucket, then paste that in your Reply (use the Reply button, not the Post Reply box)

Above you have copied the Photobucket embed or forum link, not the Direct Link

BTW, there are only two "age of motor": early and late. Distributor at front under spark plug #1 is the early type

Hey Dave , I knew it was just early and late. for most car mfg-er’s you can break down the SN and VIN to glean lots of data about them. There was one image I ran across of the trans ID #’’s brokendown.

I thought maybe the serial number would tell me the exact age of the block. Not critical just curious. Mines definitely the early one, Front distributor, stepped motor mount boss and fitting into late 1973 crossmember with short left mount boss.

I did try the direct link, it doesn’t seem using the preview button lets you see pics in post first either. The frustration with pic’s is both having to preload them into an off-site host (photobucket) vs already saved on my computers HD plus resize to fit 1200 site posting . And then PB wants you to pay to save pics .

MANY site have simple, direct load to the post features . As a real estate broker the Seattle MLS allows me to highlight and upload 50 pics at a time to a listing-no long way round method there . Obviously a better funded site then 1200 but the ideas the same,
Seems there has to be a better way....

And No disrespect for the Admins who run the site , appreciate them and the site being here, thanks!

You can upload a photo direct from your phone or PC. The trick is the photo must be less than 200,000 bytes so use the Resize It app for iPhone

The preview won't show them if you change the WIDTH

Yes, year can be gotten by serial number the only problem is we don't have a complete list

All B110 crossmembers are identical, 1970-1972 and late 1973 use same crossmember

The A15 in your car is using an adapter on right side to fit

The A12 in the photo does not need an adapter -- just use the regular B110 motor mount brackets

thanks for fixing the pic's dave, my measurements indicate otherwise as to fit on the right side mount & cross member standoff.

I think the A15 from the back of block to mount is about 8", with the A12 the distance is more like 9.5" - meaning center of mount hole to back edge of block and sandwich plate between engine & trans.

that pushes the mount farther towards the core support by about 1.5", only thing I can think of is making the adapter plate longer that the A15 is using. That s why I was asking about cross members, I always thought it was a stock 73 cross member...
