Sure it's good for rallycross ... but is the 1200's wheelbase too short?

I was just watching the latest Junkyard Crawl with Steve Mags (ex- of Hot Rod magazine), and he said the GEO Metro had a very short wheelbase

I had thought the 1200 had the shortest wheelbase of any sub-compact (non-Kei) car. I knew the old Mini was shorter but that's a smaller-than-subcompact car

I guess short wheelbase makes a car harder to drift?

There are a several cars with a shorter wheelbase. As well as the Metro, there's the Renault Dauphine, Morris Minor and NA Miatas.
