Periodical Maintenance and Lubrication Schedule

Before delivery of your new car, your Dealer provides a pre-delivery inspection and adjustment service specified by the factory and designed to ensure satisfactory performance. The following tables list the servicing required to keep your car operating at peak mechanical condition, and should be attended to as indicated, preferably by and authorized DATSUN DEALER.

Under Hood Maintenance Schedule

• (E) Check manifold inlet (carburetor spacer, connecting hoses, etc.)
• (E) Adjust intake & exhaust valve clearances

• (E) Check manifold inlet (carburetor spacer, connecting hoses, etc.)
• (E) Check engine compartment hose connections
• (E) Check fuel vapor control valves
• Change brake fluid every 12 months/12,000 miles
  • Later revised to every 24 months/24,000 miles
• Check steering gear box oil, top up if necessary
• Check automatic transmission fluid level, top up if necessary
• Check battery specific gravity

Under Vehicle Maintenance Schedule

• Check clutch & brake pedal free play
• Check clutch & brake system (cylinders, hoses, etc) for leaks or defects
• Check foot & parking brake operation
• Lubricate foot operated pedal bushings
• Grease parking brake linkage
• Check brake linings & drums for wear
• Check disc brake pads
• Overhaul brake cylinders & caliper assembly (30)
• Change or check transmission & differential gear oil level, top up if necessary
• Check & retighten steering gear box & linkage
• Grease steering linkage ball joints
• Check shock absorber

• Check & retighten suspension parts
• Grease suspension ball joints
• Repack wheel bearing grease
• Check wheel discs for damage
• Retighten propeller shaft universal joint flange bolts
• Grease propeller shaft joints

Outside Maintenance Schedule

• Check Fuel tank pressure relief valve operation
• Lubricate all locks & hinges
• Check Wheel balance & rotate wheel position
• Check front wheel Alignment & turning angle
• Check Headlight aiming
• Road test (every mile, and loving every minute of it)
