Late 70s/early 80s Datsun AM/FM radios have an auxiliary input. These style radios debuted 1977 and came in S10 200SX/Silvia, B11 Sentra/Sunny, N12 Pulsar, A10 510/Stanzas & the P910 Maxima/Bluebirds.

It has a DIN connector, the round 5-pin type. The 5P DIN was originally used as a connection for factory option external tape decks. Today it allows you to play portable CD players or iPods through the car stereo.

Wiring

5-pin DIN connector
1: No Connection (n/c)
2: AUX signal ground
3: Radio power (center pin)
4: AUX Right signal input
5: AUX Left signal input

  1. Get a standard 3.5 mm jack/cable from a set of earphones or such. One of your friends probably has one from a cell phone that they've never used.
  2. Cut off the earbuds
  3. Connect the three wires to a length of 5 pin DIN cable which has a male connector
  4. Get a 2-way switch to toggle power between inputs (radio or aux)
    • Disconnect the radio power wire from the dash harness
    • Connect the radio power in the harness to the 2-way switch input
    • Wire one of the 2-way switch outputs back to the Radio power (the cut wire)
    • Wire the other 2-way switch output to the DIN Pin #3
  5. Plug the male DIN cable end into the radio
  6. Plug the 3.5mm jack into CD or Ipod or other device

Flip the switch to toggle between Radio and Deck (auxiliary) inputs.

NOTE: It may come out a bit louder through the AUX input than expected — depending on the volume level of the device. Just be prepared to expect this.

The best thing is, if you couple it with an amp that has high level input, you can keep it looking completly stock but with decent quality audio. Modern tunes for free!
