Bosch 021 electronic Ignition module (ignitor) is small and readily available. It allows for a high energy module conversion. It is typically used with a Pertronix points-replacement conversion kit -- the Pertronix Ignitor is not high energy. Think of the Bosch 021 as a high-power relay for low-energy ignition sensors. Or use it with a stock Datsun/Nissan electronic ignition distributor if the factory ignitor is missing or damaged. It is practically the same as GM HEI.

Overview

This ICM works with Datsun and Nissan reluctance (EI) distributors. However if you already have the stock Nissan EI unit, it's even more reliable than the Bosch unit -- so use it.

Coil

It is recommended to use a high-energy coil. However the standard 12V low energy coil may be used if you retain the ballast resistor.

See Main Article: EI Coil
  • remove ballast resistor and use 12V high energy coil (like the Bluebird EI coil). The High-Energy is in the coil. The ignitor only needs to handle enough current to power the coil.

OR

  • keep the ballast resistor and use 12V low energy coil (like standard 1200 coil)

Either one will work with the Bosch module
