Fitting disc brakes on a sedan or wagon
You've been driving your sedan or station wagon for the last 4 months and have had a few close calls with last minute braking. Time to get rid of those nasty front drum brakes and fit some disc brakes from the coupe, late model ute or any 120y.
Goto the wreckers and find suitable replacement struts. Find ones with decent rotors and calipers. Also grab the master cylinder and front brake lines.
Place sedan or wagon onto stands and remove each strut. Do this by un bolting the shock tops, lower ball joint and steering ball joint. Its a good idea to replace the ball joints with new units. Swap over springs and shockies or replace shockies with new gas inserts. Sit new struts into poistion and bolt up. Lower car to ground.
Unbolt the single reservoir master cylinder and remove front lines. Block up junction with bolts. Place twin reservoir into position and bolt to firewall. Connect up the original line to the rear reservoir. Bolt junction to firewall and connect up new frontlines to calipers and front reservoir. Now bleed brakes. Go for a drive and test brakes!!
