Different sized ports between what I assume to be one early model and one later as one has emmissions controls and the other doesn't.

Hmm, My assumtion was that the one in the left was for a GX head, but I didn't know that SU's came out on non GX cars. Perhaps the one on the right is fron an A14 GX, which may not have had the bigger intake ports. Can anyone verify this?

The one on the left looks like a ported A12GX manifold (it's too tall for stock A12GX). The right one I'm guessing is a stock A14T (twin-carb) manifold from a Cherry or Sunny.

The A14 oval ports are 34 mm tall, while A12GX is 34.5 mm tall.

See A-type Cylinder Heads in the Tech Section.

I think you'll find that a true GX head has ports this tall. I have one, and despite the bigger ports, there a NO signs of porting having been done.

Yes
* A14 Oval: 28x34
* A12 GX: 30x35-36

The manifolds above look like A12 GX (left) and A12T (right, has tall boss for vacuum fitting). Both are emissions type

By contrast, A14T has a straight divider and straight top edge
