Re: 1200 Coupe. Son of D/man Thanks Andrew, he's lucky 'cos he has such a caring sharing dad Actually he's a really good son, so i gotta look after him. I think that most of us have learned long ago, the purchase price is the cheapest part of the whole deal. History is certainly repeating itself with this one. I just can't help myself when it comes to fixing up a nice car. Tomorrow it gets a rear axle bearing or two as at least one of them is on its way out. Gotta re-adjust the float level too. It also looks like i will need to pull the radio to replace the blown bulb inside when i have nothing else to do. At least it picks up ABC Radio National real good, a station that my son, who is the singer in a rock band, seems to like a great deal. .. Bizzarre. See,.. it never ends.

Re: 1200 Coupe. Son of D/man Stop trying to lie to us dodgeman we can see right through you. You really like 1200s better but dont want to admit it so you are living your passion by saying its your sons car. You probably drive it more than him.

Re: 1200 Coupe. Son of D/man He is currently driving my 200B while i have it at home doing repairs & adjustments. I have gone through a tankfull in the last three days, ummmm, just road testing you understand.
I know that once he gets it back he won't let me near it lest i keep it for another week. I'm geting to really like that auto trans too.
Actually, we have a simple deal, the car is his, but if he decides that he doesn't want it sometime down the track, i get first dibs to buy it. I kinda like the thought of having two coupes in the garage.

Re: 1200 Coupe. Son of D/man I cut half a coil off my king spring lows on the weekend which equated to a half inch drop to make it sit level with the 2" lowered rear. Im also running 175/70/13 which fill out the guards to almost max potential diameter wise. Remember it will always look slightly higher in the front too as the front wheel arch is larger than the rear.

Re: 1200 Coupe. Son of D/man W_Y_D_1200 You readin' my mind my friend. I will e-mail you tonight. Do you think that using them with the GX bonnet is sort of like a mixed metaphore? Ahhh, who cares, i'l just do it anyway.
David You're right, it still sits up a bit, but at least it doesn't need to sneak up on driveways & ease over the dips or humps. This one's for driving. You know, I kinda like that high steppin' look in 1200's, particularly with some reasonable wheels. After a 250 mile drive today, I know it'll be easier on my aching arse when i get the seat retrimmed.
I cant believe how easy it is to get parts for these cars, or how cheap most of it is. I bought three new front guards /fenders at $65 each & two new coupe grilles at $40 each this afternoon. These will be distributed between three of the coupes within a four block area from here. This car gets one of the guards. When it comes to ease of parts,.. 1200's rock, but 1000 coupes are way cool.
Freak The 176 x 70 x 13 tyre is 576mm in diameter, which is almost the same as the original 600 x 12. This one uses 185 x 60 x 13's on the front which are smaller at 552mm diameter. The rears are 185 x 65 x 13 which is also the same diameter as the original 600 x 12. I chose to run these smaller rears because it is dead stock & has an auto trans, so it doesn't need some taller gearing to slow it down even more. We live at an altitude of about 2,500 feet here & believe it or not, you can feel the modest drop in power due to the reduction in atmospheric pressure. Do you think i should fit one of those exhaust driven whizwheel air pressurisers? [turbo]

Re: 1200 Coupe. Son of D/man This is my son, Dat_nat's new ride.
It just needed a few things to get it on the road, including a new battery [totaly CFM], water pump [noisy bearing], new radiator [overheating] new thermostat [overcooling], new fan belt [just because], full service, front shocks [too soft], lowered front springs [too high], all radio knobs [wrong ones, couldn't turn it on or off], exhaust repair, four used mag wheels, 16 new mag nuts, 4 new tyres, washer nozzle, wiper blades, bleed brakes, overhaul carb & a few bulbs. See, nothing too hard.
It has 63,000 miles [about 102,000k] & runs just as sweetly as you could wish. Future plans include two new guards & a GX bonnet, all of which i have already bought, plus some minor dent removal in body & bumpers, & some paint repair. A little extra padding in the front seats is also on the agenda. Urethane suspension bits & QH headlights with relays have also been added to the short list Purchase price,... $1,725. The cost so far?... I don't want to think about it. [groan] Future costs? It will probably never end. [double groan]
