Re: L16 1200 Cheers!
Some of the body work didn't come out as well as I would of liked, but its come a long way from the hack I bought off the side of the road in dec 05. I still have to buy a rear screen rubber and get the front screen laminated oh, and put the thing together! Worked out I still need a couple hundred bucks worth of fluids for it!
Chris, yeah everything has to come home, I just got my engines home and tell you what I need a 2nd storey on my shed just for parts! I might of sold the KE10, just making up my mind if I really want to do that.
Sean

Re: L16 1200 I don't know, I kind of like the name chris...
For now I will run 13x7s on the rear and some 13x6 for the front with the same sized avons. If I can I'll get another pair of 13x7s so its not staggered.
When I have some experience and start IPRA I'll buy a new set of 14" A048s for the sexy SSRs.
I could even squeeze 9s but that would just be silly.

Re: L16 1200 Yeah, there the ones.
Around $220 a tyre last time I checked. I can get 1 meeting old 13x7 and 13x6 f/ford avons for around $150 a set, I've bought a couple sets now and they are ideal for doing supersprints and hillclimbs.

Re: L16 1200 nice, nice nice, andy, baldy and i are drooling in envy im sure... Ive decided to go L16 too after speaking to the engenieer again, aparently harder for L18 and vic is doing the year the engine you are using car it came out of. eg if you get a 1979 stanza l6 you cant passig off as a L16 from a 1972 1600 even though same style engine. L16. so i found a L16 from a 1973 datsun and i have a 1973 datsun... easy! no emissions rubbish either, pcv straight LPG ftw!

Re: L16 1200 Sweet, then you can do a L18 cheater motor, bore block to 85mm then use a L18 crank, rods and pistons and you have an 1800cc L16.
Just remember you need a front sump and pickup from a stanza or bluebird to clear the crossmember.

Re: L16 1200 Unfamilia. Why cant you use an L16 from Stanza there the same motor as in 1600 just EGR Crap. Plus Stanza only had charcoal cannister in the engine bay didnt it ? Just throw it in with the motor. No offence but sounds like someones making hard work of it all.

Re: L16 1200 yeah RTA making it hard for me. damn mod rules... stricter than adrs almost now. also 73 dont need carbon canister, not that i can run one with straight lpg anyway... no petrol tank to vent it to LOL. I hear the logic but others dont. I couldnt possibly use a L16 with L18 pistons and L18 crank... that would breach the 10% increase in power and torque rules too

Re: L16 1200 If going L series you have to go ka24e head with 89mm sleeved bores. Nothing better than a 3 valve engine with twin 34mm inlet valves (one could be made to 41mm easily like a polyquad head) and a single 40mm valve. 260hp na or more is possible speaking to ex-factory works nissan mechanic Gordon Dobey believes the ka24e head can flow around 320hp if the bottom end can rev.

Re: L16 1200 The authorities wouldn't take off the head and cc the engine, no way. Only a Datto enthusiast with bum in pants experience could tell the difference. But I expect your comment should have been italics I didn't think that the RTA would have any idea of the engine age from the engine number? Unless there's some register of engine numbers from previously registered cars. What are you doing with rear wheel arches? Got some bolt-on flares we haven't seen yet?

Re: L16 1200 I don't think you'd have to pull the head but You'd need a pretty large buret to do it. Quote: What are you doing with rear wheel arches? Got some bolt-on flares we haven't seen yet? Correct
