The same guy who owns the light blue wheelying one did this conversion for me, he runs the same Mazda 626 motor (just with lots of nos), not a CA motor.

sounds like fun 2 drive and when you put it that way yer it make more sence to put the mazda motor in than another motor that is harder to put in and find

I keep thinking that the Mazda DOHC looks better inside the 1200 engine compartment that the Nissan DOHCs ... nice lookin engine.

On the other hand the FJDETs, CA18DETs and SR20DETs look impressive in just how much they fill up the space and look more "high-tech".

Bones do the Bakkies have A 5 speed as standard box? If so how much would we expect to pay (Rand) second hand and how many are around?

Wally, most of them nowadays come with the 5 spd box but it is a wimpy item that breaks a lot quicker than the 4 spd version. Can get em for about R2500-00 second hand here quite easily. My work van (standard Nissan 1400 champ) has the 5spd in it and its almost knackered after 215000kms. My blue van has a Toyota Cressida 5 spd box in it, not particularly impressed with it either, but I was told to put it in cause its tuff & cheap (R1800-00)+/-. BMW Getrag 5 spd box is probably the next step for me

HI DDGONZAL, YES R2500 IS FOR GEARBOX ALONE, HOWEVER, U CAN FIND TIRED RUSTED UTES AND gx'S FOR ABOUT R5000 QUITE OFTEN AROUND HERE, ESPECIALLY IN COASTAL AREAS. THE METAL USED BY NISSAN SA IN MANUFACTURE SEEMS TO BE OF A SIMILIAR QUALITY TO THAT OF BAKED BEAN CANS!

pretty popular here because the motors are cheap (ex 626) and are tough (turbo friendly. Mine gives about 250kw on wheels at sea level, quarter mile in the 12's with street tyres, just got slicks, still to time on them

isnt this the motor out of the mx5 cus they look very a like i duno i dont have a pic of an mx5 motor but from memory it looks the same

Howzit tello, it has a A14 motor with a T2 turbo on it when I bought it in JHB, then swopped motor out in 2002 (I think, memory is fading), then I went apeshit with forged internals, suspension etc etc. Its not a cheap conversion with all the work, plus U need W58 supra gearbox, Alfa LS diff, custom internals and lots more "stuff" to keep it in one piece. Stick with something like a stock 4AGZE for street & reliability & fuel consumption.
