Girlock calipers off a VK. U12 pinnie rotors. I profile cut and drilled my own plate to mount the caliper.

Thats some serious stopping power for a KB10. should go great. (or is that, should stop great.)

can you put a list of what needs done for this upgrade?
Or is it just the bracket that needs to be made?

- used vk 6 cyl commo. I'm pretty sure you'll find the majority, if not all, 6 & 8 cyl commos from vb to vs with vented front disks are the same. check a brake parts catalogue. make sure you get the caliper mount and hose (and some good pads if your lucky). I got all this for $20 bucks total as nobody wants them. must be good!. kit it and have it ready to go.
- change the standard hubs for 1200 disk model hubs. you don't use the extra holes in the hub. its only done for spacing purposes as it puts the disk 5mm further out (widens track). you need to put it in a lathe and knock about 3mm off the o.d. this is not a toleranec thing and only done to clear the i.d. of the disks.
- buy a pair of vented disks to suit a U12 pintara
- cut a new bracket from 10 or 12mm steel. needs four holes to bolt to the upright and two more holes to mount the caliper. I'll try to dig out the dwg file if you interested. I had mine laser cut and I machined the centre to spigot on the upright but I think this is way overkill.
- bolt it all together with new bearings and bolts. the commo hose mounts up to the datto brake line too from memory. I think i used this to test it before ordering new braided lines at a much shorter length to suit.

thats about it.

- in case your interested, i've got U12 rear calipers sitting on a 1200 ute axle (only mod is to move the spring perches in to suit 1000 leaf spacing) with R31 girlock calipers and another laser cut bracket on the rear of this car. brake performance and balance is excellent. I have not tested it on the track yet as this lot is bolted to my road car, but i have heaps of confidence in it.

I use a master cylinder from a sunny and NO booster. It was the biggest bore available for the sunny. brake pedal force is similar to my wifes bog-standard VZ commodore, but stopping distance is a far bit less.

the R31 calipers are nothing like the commo rears. commo's use disk over drum and both are useless. R31's use disk only with cable operated park brake and are self adjusting. the park brakes is sufficient but not as good as drums (they never are).

Oh, one other thing. you might want to consider wheel stud length. the u12 disk slip over the wheel studs before the wheel goes on as you can see in the photo - just like the rotating part of the drum brake. with the some rims the studs are a bit too short for comfort in my opinion.

to do list from now on and put the sigma conversion to
rest as this setup is vented and looks a zillion bucks.

drawing as this is the conversion that has stumped me
for over a decade. Ive heard of it and always wanted

Its been over a decade that Ive been
using the sigma setups.
I have the pintara rear disc setup
and it looks ridiculously larger
than the sigma discs. Id say there is
20mm difference. 229 vs around 254mm
