Custom made hub from a block of 4140 Grade steel.  Commodore stud pattern for my wheels.  To suit 120Y struts with S13 Brakes.

Just to get this straight, I suppose that with this you'll be bolting the disk down with the rim, and no longer have that loose front piece that bolts the disk down separately, like with the original 1200 hub?

EDIT: Let me rephrase that, the disk will no longer bolt onto the back of the hub, and you won't have to remove the hub to replace the disk..

PIGDOG - I will be running the S13 brakes when and if it ever goes back on the road. If they are not good enough I'll upgrade them then. Plus I have'nt checked for clearance for a 4 spot caliper yet.

Kululadatgreon - Yes that's correct, the wheel rim will be holding the disk against the hub face.

I am running the VN B/W rear and these hubs have the same bolt spacing so that I can fit the Weld Pro Star rims.

Hi mate, I am very very interested in a set of these with 114.3 spacing, how would you go about gettting some made up? or would it be possible to get a plan sent over? I'm in Brisbane too if i could maybe check them out sometime?

thanks mate,
Brodie

Brodie,
you need to know exactly what you need and it's a peice of piss. If you don't know exactly what you want, the engineer/machinest will get worried and probably wont do it. If you need them exactly the same as the 120Y ones appart from the stud pattern. Get a sample (ie the originals) and speak to your local engineer firm. I used Mclauchlan Engineering in rocklea.

I showed him the original hub, explained the only difference will be the stud pattern and he said, "you organise the steel and studs, get me a sample of the stud spacing and I'll make it"

I work at Archerfield so if you want to see them let me know and i'll take one to work. Or if you at the jamboree in November I can catch you there in the car park

Thanks
Nick

Howdy, the block of steel was $70ea. I got it 150 O/D x 120 long, a fair size larger than what you need. And a local engineer that I deal with through work charged me $80 each for the machine time. From what I understand this is quite cheap considering there is several hours of machine time per hub, so he may or maynot do another set for me. Studs are standard commodore ones. I was going to be a tight ass and just get some from a wreaker but given they hold you wheel on I decided to go the safe route and buy new ones.

I gave him the 120Y hub as a sample to work from and they look like they should do the trick. This way I can use Kev Rowley's 120Y to S13 brake upgrade and run the wheels that I wanted. Looking at the hub on the S13 disk it looks like I may have to buy some blank disks and have them drilled to suit, but the R33 Gts runs the same size disk and is 5 stud so that may fit, maybe S14/15 too. I haven't looked too much into this yet. I spoke to an engineer about getting them signed off on, and he said that because they are a single peice like the factory ones, they don't require a engineer report.

I was going to get them made in alloy, but after looking at the dimensions required there was only going to be a small amount of steel between the stud and outer edge of the hub. Better save (and heavier) than sorry.

you will probably have to get blanks, no s13 size discs are available in 5 stud (unless you plan on using the 280mm discs instead of the 250mm)

if it was the nissan stud pattern rather than holden there would be no problems redrilling the discs, but with the holden stud pattern the hole that kinda lines up with one of the originals will be half in and half out
you could possibally weld one of the existing holes up then drill the new ones, that way all the holes will actually be round

PIGDOG - Yes I have the larger SR20DET disks and calipers. For the moment I will be drilling the old disk while I sort the rest of the car our. Then buy some blanks. Dont worry she wont be driven like that!!! Just while she sit's in my garage been fixed up. I've got enough work to keep me busy for the next couple of years.

Catch ya

well if you ever want r32/33 rear brakes for the r31 diff, let us know

using ford axles would also open up alot of wheel choice as ford, nissan, mitsubishi and others all use that stud pattern
