The nice laser-cut brackets for fitting Maxima rear calipers to a Ute's diff. these are nice, as they allow you to easily get the calipers nicely lined up with the disk, then just tighten to 2 small nuts and it's all done.

 Re: rear caliper brackets
Are these commercially available, or one-off's?
What are the advantages of the Maxima brakes over the 910 Bluebird rear discs, which are a bolt-on to the Ute rear end, & are they small enough to go under a 13" mag wheel. [I assume not, but just need to ask anyway.]

 Re: rear caliper brackets
I've never actually tried to fit a 13"er over them, would actually be interesting to see that...

the problem for me, being in South Africa... 910Bluebird stuff, very rare and probably very expensive in these parts, and almost certainly not to be had from your local parts store.... where as Maxima and Sentra stuff litters the sidewalks here (so to speak) :)

reason I went with these calipers was that I had them here, and there was nothing wrong with them...

commercial availability is a definite possibility.

the 910 bluebird rear disc over drum brake setup doesn't fit inside a 13" wheel i'm pretty sure ?!!

 Re: rear caliper brackets
13"s wont come close to fitting on 910 rear discs, the disc itself is 280mm, then calipers ...
why would you make the comment about how easy the 910 setup is to put on then ask if 13" mag wheels fit over this setup ?
guess i just misunderstood the the question layout

 Re: rear caliper brackets
let me go see if I still have a 13" rim here somewhere... this is a pretty tight install, as in the caliper and disk clearances are very small, it might just fit....

I'm a little bit surprised at this... :)

It fit's like a charm, with a little more than 1\2 an inch to spare....

would easily be able to go with a 250mm disk and still be able to use 13" rims...

Boofhead.
I have a ute rear end & two sets of 910 Bluebird discs.. I also have a set of 13" rims on my car that I don't want to lose.
I also know that 13"rims won't fit over the 910 disc brakes, so I have a quandry.

Use the discs & switch to 14" wheels. [not going to happen]
Stay with the drums & keep the 13" wheels. [a distinct possibility]
Find another disc brake that is available, serviceable, adaptable & will fit under 13"s. [always looking, looking, looking]

OK, what's the chassis code for the donor car?

here the bracket in it's place....

here the caliper with disk and PCD convertor all on... note that the convertor also doubles as an offset-modifier for these rims i have, so that they can clear the leafs...

 Re: rear caliper brackets
So just to clear things up, its a maxima setup on a h165 "ute" differential housing?
Whats the year and chassic code for the maxima?
And the maxima is 4x114.3mm stud pattern?

 Re: rear caliper brackets
Maxima rear Calipers, have no clue as to chassis numbers and all that, got it off of a shelf at a local wrecker, the Tag on them just said Maxima...

Nissan Senta rear disks. again, only because I had them, I might suggest finding a disk at you local parts store, that is a bit more suited, The size should be in the 240mm diameter range for it to fit inside a 13" rim

I'd say about 260mm for a 15" rim, but then brake balancing might become a problem. With these 240mm disks on the rear, my ute's brakes are spot on. Not locking at the rear or any kind of funny busyness under hard braking...

If you ask them for their disk catalog, it usually list all the disks by PCD and size, so it is very easy to find a suitable sized unit, even from other fabricators...

 Re: rear caliper brackets
very nice fit !!! and still plenty of room
what are the plans for a hand brake/ E brake ??
i really like the concept for the caliper centring adjustment, very quick and simple !

dodge the R31 rear setup will fit in 13"s and the hand brake setup shouldn't be too hard to mod to work. my H165 is undergoing this at the moment ... and yes I to have 13"s that i am aiming at keeping.
once my diff is done i'll have a write up and pics hopefully in the next couple weeks

@3Rotor
I am really impressed. What are the chances of getting these brackets from you at a good price? If not, are you willing to send me a email maybe containing the drawing file so that I can make my own here in Bloem?
Will this setup also work/fit on a h145 diff?

What setup do you run at the front?
I am looking at a similar setup than this (local available parts and a tidy setup) to do to my front. Unfortunately I also have 13" rims that it must fit under.Any suggestions?

 Re: rear caliper brackets
My fronts are completely wacked out....

and again... :) only because it was stuff I had cluttering up some work-space....

there I run VW Carravelle disks, also slightly altered....though not as much as the rears....

diameter had to come down about 10mm to fit into 15" and obviously PCD-holes had to be drilled,
Calipers are your normal everyday run of the mill Camry\Senta\Corrola single-pot floaters. This particular set, from a Camry.

here is an old picture of the diff(from when all was still nice and clean...), If someone can confirm what diff it is exactly, that would clear possible confusion...

It's the std diff from an 1984 ZAR 1400 pickup.(bakkie) that started life with drums all round....
for checking, the mounting holes on the diff, is a rectangle 55mm by 74mm.

I can fab you a rear set, for aprox R400. have not yet gotten around to digitizing the front brackets, yet.... so I guess it's an excuse for getting onto it now, is it not :)

Handbrake should not be too hard, though it might need some re-cabling.... will have to get to that as well.

These rear calipers have all the gadgets, just need to be hooked up...
