Re: R32 GTR I've entered a test day at Mt Cotton next Sunday, so I can't wait for the weekend! I think it will take a few events to start approaching what this car is capable of there, but at least I'll have some sort of idea about its potential after the weekend Just got to get the extinguisher, bonnet pins, and harness in during the week. And try to afford some race tyres for the standard forged GTR rims. I'll be bringing it down to Bathurst in December for the Speed Weekend. Can't wait to see what it does down Conrod! The 180khp speed limiter is long gone, which is just as well, because it does that in 3rd gear...

Re: R32 GTR Nice looking ride Harry neat and tidy & very fat. Will be intersting to see what kinda top speed she will pull at bathurst probably around the 220-240 depending on how much power she has. Any engine specs?? all bolt on hp stuff??

Re: R32 GTR thanks Andrew. Do they start the Conrod Supersprint further up the hill near the clubrooms now? I think you mentioned they were doing that last year. In '03 we started at the bottom of that hill. I think 230-240 is a pretty conservative guess. That's top of 4th gear. Well, it should be top of 4th...
Not sure on what is done to the engine apart from the obvious bolt ons - pods, 3.75" exhaust. Its got a heavier clutch and a pretty tight LSD in the back, compared to the standard ones I drove. It also puts the power down out of corners better than them. And Buddy Club coilovers. Handling is awesome too - on the street rubber.
I've been meaning to get over to a dyno operator I know so he can have a once over and see what's done to it. Might even give it a run-up. I was supposed to go there on Sat, but didn't have time. Maybe later this week. I have to take a day off to pick up some race tyres for it anyway.

Re: R32 GTR Harry they still start the conrod supersprint in the low dip a little further back when you ran in 03 but not that far. Will be great to storm the mount in all our nissan- datsun cars. Ive heard on the grapvine the sydney datsun club may be having there Xmass party that weekend at bathurst so lots of people to catch up with and ramble on

Re: R32 GTR I don't know if you've read this article, probably have, but it's a good read and I would be interested to try what he's done: http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/article.html?&A=0060Looks great by the way! BTW - looks like you can't read the whole article any more without paying, but it's a how to on modifying the accelerometers in the 4wd system and sounds like it really works wonders... it's in depth and he shows you exactly what he's done and how it affected lap times if I remember correctly.

Re: R32 GTR Thats a great looking car Harry. My son, Dominic wanted me to buy one instead of the Honda. You have to give him points for good taste.

Re: R32 GTR thanks 2332, I have seen the article when it was in Zoom magazine. It was very interesting. There are some comercially available gizmos for that too. The standard GTRs I drove stepped out alot more easily than this car, but I'm used to rwd cars handling. The guy who wrote that had only previously owned fwd and a constant 50/50 awd subaru, so he was definitely accustomed to understeer... Personally, I think they should have done some suspension tuning and left the ATTESSA system alone. Although it would probably make it safer for general road use by the average driver.
I'm very happy with the way the car handles, but it has a tighter LSD in the back and some decent suspension. But you never really know its on-limit handling until you get it to a race track, so we'll see...

Re: R32 GTR Excellent choice, Harry.
I'd love to have one just like it (not to replace my 1200, mind you) if it didn't have to be tested and modified to be legal here in the states.

Re: R32 GTR looks like I've got a buyer for the GTR. He came and test drove it last weekend, and made me an offer this morning
So it looks like I'll be getting stuck into my HR30 Skyline coupe for my next toy!Either with a worked turbo L24/26 or RB20/25DET transplant, cage, etc.

Its probably a pretty good compromise between the old 1200's lightweight 850kg rwd platform and the GTR's ~1430kg. The HR30 GT ES weighs about 1130kg standard apparently (with things like air con and rear wiper) and it should be pretty easy to get around the same power as the GTR had, so there's definitely potential there...

Re: R32 GTR I knew you werent super keen on selling the GTR Harry so you must have done pretty good on the price, a keen buyer . I reckon its time to go back to a 1200. Join the Lseries club again! Come on you know you want too Harry. Plenty of good 1200s out there or even 120y's you were saying. I tihnk could prob save money on one as opposed to what you will spend on the HR. Seems you have lots to ponder over after this sale. Should take some Coopers round to sway you back to 1200. Congrats on the sale.

Re: R32 GTR yes, this pic is/was my GTR. its still mine at the moment. Michael, I'd like to think I've still got a decade or so before I'm due for a mid life crisis, but you make a good point - that should be interesting - stay tuned! Rainer, I probably am going L series again - L24/26 6cyl turbo L series! Lets see what an L series can really do! Quote: btw, harry aren't dr30's supposed to be handling nightmares? yeah, so I've heard. And I have some video footage of a very busy Glen Seton (Australian Touring Car driver of some note) in a Group A DR30 around Bathurst 1987 in the wet that certainly seems to suggest this isn't just a rumour...sounds like fun to me!

Re: R32 GTR Nothing like a challenge Harry. Good to see the DR is going to finally do something. Either way L-series or RB it will be quick. Will be good to see such a rare car mixing it with the best.
