A series turbo go_the_datto 2002/8/4 9:53 Tell a friend 4908 3 0.00 (0 votes)
Here is an A12 piston that has had a hard life. The turbo set up was not well designed ie no intercooler and exhaust running beside the carby. But it lasted for about 5 months and was still (just) running when I pulled it down. Check out the size difference in the other piston its out of a 460 ford |

Re: A series turbo It was still running? Wow, that's a big chunk out of the side of the piston. It was probably causd by lean mixture or overboost causing detonation -- that'll hammer the internals so hard parts can shatter (if they don't melt first).

Re: A series turbo yer, when you were driving along and it was under boost a stream of smoke would come from out of the back of the bonnet, it was quiet a sight. But mind you, it only happened right at the end of its life, it went for a while with no probs.it got me to and from work every day. They are tough little beasts these 1200's eh!!
