Here's the shift linkage. He basically removed the right side of the tunnel to get it to fit. Once it's running we'll rebuld the floor, but the tranny didn't even come close to fitting in the stock tunnel. He made his own linkage with adjustable heim joints to get it to work right. Shifts perfect, too.

did it have to be a sludge a matic but each to his own i dont like sludge a matics u just dont get the same noise its just a one note strait to a lower note no pause but each to his own

This is the first, and probably last, automatic Datsun for me. The story is, I showed my mom a picture of one of my 1200s and joked that I was going to put an automatic in it so she could drive it. She liked the idea and has held me to the promise.
I don't like slush-boxes either, but she called my bluff!

Having driven a 1200 with this engine and a manual trans, an auto would make it "easier" to drive. This engine has alot more torque than the 1200 rear suspension is comfortable with.

Plus it's for mom.
