My Sedan's engine bay. Not too pretty but it might get some attention in the future. The carbies are 40mm Keihins

These carbs are from a motorbike of 1100cc capacity, not exactly sure what type(ZZR1100?), and cost us around $200. They work really well. I don't have any problems starting it up on frosty mornings (I have the choke connected but rarely have to use it). The engine is quite responsive and really loves to rev out.
The tune was sorted by a combination of opening up the main jets quite a lot and packing washers underneath the heads of the needles to lift them up.
During tuning on a dyno we saw about 95 hp at the wheels, the engine being a fairly standard A14 with a slight overbore and a performance camshaft.

Thats a great setup, there is no reason that shouldnt be every bit as good as webers, or better, smoother throughout the rev range, more like fuel injection.

This is a really good setup. It took a bit of fiddling at first to get them tuned right, but I see it started on many mornings to get it outside the workshop & it fires right up, it idles quite well, pulls away smoothly, has no flat spots or flutter points [rich], & once on the racetrack, .. the sound, just before it hits the rev limiter, is enough to put the fear of god into the opposition. You gotta come to hear it & cheer him on.

For those willing to do some manifold fabrication, some tuning, & who want to save a dollar, this is the good stuff.

Notice the 'low restriction' air filter. None of this dinky little 'sox' rubbish, this one really passes the air through.
Not so easily seen is the harmonic balancer/ front pulley. This will help prevent the crank bolts from loosening & spiting the flywheel.

Good one Aiden.

The air filter's a custom job, made from some extruded stainless mesh and some air filter foam. A piece of aluminium bolts onto the carbies and the airfilter attaches to that.
