1.6 liters, 120hp (u.s. version) redline at 7500 rpms, and can easily give you 240,000 miles.

Thanks for that mate.
I dont think a 4agze (supercharged) is worth the effort into a datsun. In toyotas where it is a bolt in it is a better idea.

what makes you say that? They might not be the best motor ever but they'd have to be up there. How do you find the 4AGZE in your 120Y?

I fail to understand why you would say this. By the looks of it, I think it's a much easier swop than any other engine, bar a bigger capacity A series. Or do you mean when you leave it supercharged?

Anyway, if postage wasn't so expensive, I would have finished this adapter, and posted it to you...

Yeah I mean as supercharged, going turbo changes things, but the superchargers really limit the potential. They arent a cheap engine to buy, and when you factor in a supra box concersion etc I reckon a ca18det is a better choice.

yea thats the exact reason I went turbo, the supercharger is actually a limiting/weak point.

Turbo Vs Supercharger
Loss Easy of Install Win
Loss Lag Win
Win Efficiency Loss
Win Tuneability Loss
Win Power potential Loss
3/5 2/5

Turbo WINS!

you forgot weight, superchargers are big and heavy.
Plus maintenance, superchargers require oil changes and belts.

I'm on my way to the bank to pay for a bigport RWD inlet manifold complete with TB, injectors/rail and TVIS for $250 to my door. I'm happy with that

Can I junk the TVIS and just bolt the manifold to the head?

No, the manifold has indentations, on top and in the middle of each port, and these cause a leak. Best thing to do is either to have these filled up with aluminium welding, or to keep the TVIS, but remove the butterflies and shaft. You then simply have someone lathe you up little aluminium plugs to go in the ends of the TVIS plate, outsides of #1 and #4 ports. The holes between the ports won't make a difference. You could keep the TVIS intact, but it's going to be a restriction...

I still have a RWD TVIS manifold as well, and if I remember correctly it has 8 runners, two for each port. But I couldn't use it, as it went out to far, and hit the strut tower. I'll take some pics and post them up for you, so you can see what I mean with the indentations.

EDIT: Those injectors are useless, they only flow like 182cc's, not enough for a turbo application, have a look here, linky dinky, it;'s the 4AGE dark grey ones. There are also a bunch of information on other Japanese type injectors. Also in that manifold you have a cold start injector, which you could easily use for water/methanol injection...

I modified the original SC manifold, cut it off and welded on my own plenum chamber and stuff, as described before, might be in the other thread...

You shouldn't have a problem, as you have far more space than me, I'll measure it up this afternoon, and post it up with some pictures.

See my EDIT in my previous post...
