 Re: Shorty Headers
10 years on...

... I still like these headers. However they are just a lightweight version of the GX exhaust manifold. The GX cast-iron 4-into-2-into-1 factory header. It's quieter, never wears out, and has no gasket sealing issues

These shorties could be made with different diameter tubes for race tuning, but really a full-length long header would be better in all ways for race tuning

These remind me of the first factory OEM mustang 5.0 shorties - a better performing replacement for cast iron manifolds. They saved weight, gained HP and looked cool. But in that case the Ford iron ones were not efficient like the GX manifold

Anyways -- WHERE TO GET THEM. They were sold by Datsun Competition. See Competition Headers. Just need a time machine to go back to the seventies and purchase a set

They would be good on a 1000. 1200 extracters usualy sit too low and drag over curbs... well mine do!

Ive had 2 different sets.

1 was on my A12 then on my A15. These came close to the floor. Also had to dent 1 runner in slightly to clear the idler arm from memory.

The set i have now are Genies 4-1 and the just come very close to the passenger floor. But they fit!

Does'nt say much for the quality control they use in the jigs when making these does it.The genies hit the drag link and idler arm, others have hit the rail and some the side of the gearbox.
After all that you have to get round a twin redline manifold.
Still,if it where easy??

 Re: Shorty Headers
The headers that I used in my 1k were a set of pacemekers. I had to bend them slightly away from the steering arm so they cleared, but they fit, just.

two into two look the go i reckon.

I somehow like the look of these, they look like they would give very good extraction, and I doubt that you would benefit much from having a set of those super long ones in place of these.
