I dont think it looks as low as it did with the black 12"s. Maybe its just the shadow and stuff.

Well the original plans were a 1UZ... but they dont fit, by a mile! And then perthute said he may know of a very cheap 351 and slushbox! And their smaller then a 1UZ and cooler then just another bloody 308 with EFi

351 cleveland heaviest of all mistakes (you can ebay it though they are fetching good money) warp the body anyone?

Stay the vg30 instead then!

How about a L18 with Z18 head supercharged with SU carb.

 Re: Ratwagon on 13"s
Well i have a 2"SU that used to be on a turbo setup and a very worn out T25 off a GTiR (i think). So theres a option there. I still have the manifold plates too from the TnPshow bulk buy. I was thinking just turbo A series or something. Or S/C?

 Re: Ratwagon on 13"s
I thought it looked cooler with the black wheels.
The scollaps are cool.
I personally dont dig matt black, flames and red wheels with whitewalls. That style just screams tryhard to me, especially calling it a ratrod.
Hence why just the scollaps and black wheels was plain cool.
Its not my wags thou, so roll it with pride Beattie.

 Re: Ratwagon on 13"s
I dont call it a ratrod, i call it a ratwagon. There is a MK1 Cortina in WA with the plates ratwagon and thats got the full works! So i spose hes more of a try hard then i am Oh and i have no intentions of flames, never wanted em either.

the 12"s had to go anyways. The tyres where all rubbish and there is better tyre choise for 13"s.

Im looking for nice shiney chrome centre caps but not having much luck. Then it may pull off black wheels. We'll see.

Needs a new motor first. The A10 is absolutly rooted! Could barely turn it around on the street it was burning that much oil!

351C is "only" about 475 pounds -- so less of a 'heavy mistake' than a GM smallblock engine at 500 pounds. This is not counting the weight of the transmission.

That's about 1/3 the weight of an entire Datsun 1000!

 Re: Ratwagon on 13"s
Did someone seriously mention a clevo haha about the worst thing I have heard on this forum in 5 years clevlands are ####!!!! Why would you put a big heavy motor like those mentioned into a car that has a flat floor pan, do you want to close your doors?

think light motors, you want need alot of power in 1000 before it would be unusable 130rwkw and the thing would be downright scary. think- a series, ca, sr, 4a, l series, all a better option than a big dirty heavy v8 and I like v8's more than anyone just not for a 1000.

 Re: Ratwagon on 13"s
Yeh i crossed the 351 off the list pretty quick. Although there is that chev one in Japan...
VH44? Nah would be simmiler size to a 1UZ, and a 1UZ is a better motor anyways(IMO).
That hybrid V8 would cost way too much. This is a budget build. There is bugger all in the quokka today so i donno what im gonna do. S/C A12 with a SU and a Toyo huffer?

ever seen a 1000 engine bay? no way in hell a 6 will fit without major cutting.

The car is sold to Ben, KUE1000 now anyway and its getting a mild A14 with dogleg box. Might be on the next cruise so im told
