actualy i think it is a series ,look at the manifold ,its identical to my stock manifold ,and the timing cover ,oil pump and head are screaming a series ,only odd thing is the fuel pump location ,but that might just be how the engine mount is sitting

looks pretty cool!

Yes, it is a Datsun A12, which seems to be a descendent of the Austin B-series rather than the Austin A-series.

1953: Nissan assembles Austin A40s from complete knock-down kits
1955: Nissan makes 1500cc engines for Austin A50
1957: Nissan de-strokes the 1500 to create the 1000cc Datsun C1 engine.
1958: Nissan strokes the C1 to make the E1 engine, 1200cc.
Early 1960s: E1 goes through two more design changes
1964: Nissan redesigns the engine to make the Datsun J13 engine
1966: Nissan creates the all-new Datsun A-series with alloy head
