Re: Low budget 71. I put the headers on just for the pic. I know they stick out a long way. I'll cut the flanges off and set em up so they hug the black more. Those are Ford headers, closest thing to a Buick header. I would cost me 400$ or so to build a set like that, so I change the flanges, move two tubes, EZ. I know there are a lot of late model stuff that would work, but this is the one I have and know most about. Guess I'm just old school?

Re: Low budget 71. I'll get a late model Buick v6 timing cover and that will lower the water pump. But it still has all that crap on the front. The pumps that come on the rovers are so high, I'd have to cut o hole in the hood. Not looking to build a 9sec street car, just something fun to drive, good power and sounds nice. The rig this came out off is like 4000lbs and still got 18mpg, so if I do the math ( and I wont) I figure 25 on the highway and 15 or better in the city. Right now I just don't have the space to get started, have to clean the place up a bit. The manifold that's setting on it is an old Buick 4bl, headers are 5.0L Mustang ( 50$) need to change the flanges and move two tubes. Few headers out there for these motors and nothing that would fit without some cutting and rework. Most of the parts I have I got dirt cheep through trades. I have the know how, just not the cash.

Re: Low budget 71. I called it a Buick because of the single quad manifold & the lack of the Rover name on the rocker covers. By the time you add the width of the extractors/headers it all gets to be a bit squeezy in a 1200 engine bay. I wonder how wide a Toyota Century engine is. [All alloy V8 Hemi with vertical exhaust ports]

Re: Low budget 71. That's my guess too. 215 cubic inch Buick/Pontiac. [They were an option in the Pontiac Tempest I believe]
