Hy. Iam trying to figure out where is the distributor vaccumm advance hose, is it missing, or is there some new system I am not aware of? Looks as if the nipple is been cleaned and there is no hose. Just asking, the picture is not clear.

Without vacuum advance, you are effectively retarded at part throttle. For a race car this is OK 'cause they only run at full throttle. Not so good for a street car.

 Re: A14
yeah well when the carbie shop first put my 32/36 on the a12, they never connected the vacum advance because they said that is creats problems, so all they did was advance the timing , i have heard things like the 32/36 have issues with vacum advance at the moment my motor is going fine with oute it , she idels at about 1050 -1100 cause we got the timing spot on i thought personally that the vacum advance was only helpful when startiing the motor when its cold ??? because it ups the spark or sumthing

Its worthwile having the vacuum advance hooked up as it gives you more advance during low throttle openings while cruising but when you floor it at lower revs it retards the ignition enough to stop detonation (rattling death). It is easy to hook up on the 32/36 carb and is worthwile in increased driveability and economy.

Impossible. The vacuum advance is part of the distributor, and is connected to manifold vacuum. There is a port on the 32/36 for ported manifold vacuum (same as any other carb). You could bypass that and connect it directly to the intake manifold if you think the carb has some sort of problem.

Vacuum advance is not for cold starting; it is for advancing the timing at part throttle -- vacuum varies depending on how much throttle you give. The more spark advance you have, the more power and driveability you have. You can have more at part throttle than at full throttle, and that's what the vacuum advance diaphragm is for. There is no other way to get it short of electronic timing control. "Advancing" the timing won't do it.

If the shop advanced the regular timing, they probably did it for full throttle. Otherwise it'll cause the engine to ping at full throttle. With vacuum advance, you can have your cake and eat it too.
