By the looks of the other pictures you posted up, I will say Yes it is a GX head, as it looks like the only casting in the head says "JAPAN NISSAN"

You guys must have missed the photo of the box with the Part Number. It is not the GX part, but the Cherry A12T part.

is it posible that the a12t head's are from the same casting with the extra oil hole removed?

Or

That the left over GX stock were sold as replacements for a12t's?

This A12T head has the extra oil hole, you can see it in the photos.

And was made at the same time.

The mystery continues.

thats not quite true dazza.
the head your talking about is the mega rare competition head??

dodgeman put a pic of one up a while ago, but buggered if I can find it.

EDIT:

found the pic, you can see the extra meat above the inlet ports, that makes a competition head.
a gx head does not have to have these raised sections.

At least as far as we know ... maybe all the "GX" heads here are actually Datsun Cherry twin-carb heads. Used heads don't have part numbers so how do we really know?

Dodgeman as I recall has a new GX head in Nissan box, if so he could confirm the part number and features.
