It was dynoed at 100hp before i fitted the new airfilter and hollypump and regulater. i had those 4 sock filters on at the time. apparently their no so good because the engine has to realy suck through them.

Looks like a filter element next to the rad , right hand side, lower right, what is it for?
How is your PVC system hooked up?

hehe you sort of answered that yourself, this is very similar to what i did, there is a bottle next to the radiator i pressume with that little filter on top, both the PCV valve and sump breater run to it, and then air is filtered out to atmosphere instead of back into engine, most race cars do it this way

1200rallycar is correct. it is a 'Jazz' overflow tank with a breather on top and a drain tube at the bottom. You have to have them if you want to race so if you over rev and blow you motor the oil will not go on the track. Hey lcardeta the coil is a lucis sports coil. its better than the original but I think I will get the gt40 and put the sports coil on my road car. I have now put a new head on this motor with bigger valves better porting and polishing and dubble valve springs. Its going for a hub dino next week but I reckon its now 108bhp. Only cost me $100 and i got 2 heads (the others not so worked) and a head gasket.

That looks excelent, and the suspension/balance of the car is not affected. I know there are other engines out there to swap, but the look, and also the performance of a tricked A engine is fun, delivers, I'll be there too, I am getting all my parts together, soon , hands on the job for me.
Nice picture. ____________________

Those ITG filters are awesome! I've tried a few brands, and ended up with the big daddy of this one pictured in the 240RS.
Did back to back tests the last time it was on the engine dyno, absolutely no mixture change or power drop anywhere in the rev range, and that FJ moves some air through!!

I thoroughly recommend them

Nice job Quinn

cheers guys Ive spent alot of time and $$ on it and its my pride and joy. now ive just got to finish the fuel tank and Ill be ready fore next race season ( first meetings the weekend of the 21st September). The hardest part was researching the best setup. If I could get another 20-30hp it would be perfect.

I really like this setup. Looks like somthing I can work on, as opposed to a CA18DET w/ all it's computers & complications. My concern is if the carb/filter system will hit my US version brake/clutch master location(ours are on the left firewall). By the way, how come your strut tower top looks so different from mine? What are you using? Also, how does she drive? Thanks

On the US cars, the back carb runs right up against the MC. No chance for a filter, and the MC may restrict the flow to it. Better to put in a Tilton pedal set-up that puts your MC's inside the dash.

My girlfriend has a mk 1 escort rs2000 replica and she runs a mitzi mc setup which sits in the car. BUT i was looking at a Nissan c20 van (for the diff) and saw that the mc is up under the dash so Im sure you could rig it up. it would also be handy in racing because you could always see the brake fluid level. As for the strut tops Im running adjuctable top plates which I had mad up out of Aluminium. the slots run on an angle so i can adjust both caster and camber. Ive just brought some A32R tires and it grips like #### to a stick.

It would be easier to use an angled manifold rather than re-engineer the brake cylinder mounting and pedals. But it's hard to find an angle manifold. Or you could go with a single side-draft.

If i had to chose id go for the one in the centre of the first pic. a dual system is always good because it means if theres a failure in one end ( front or back) youll still have the other brakes. Im not sure if theres enough room above the pedals for this set up. I still think you could set the c20 van mc up ok. next time i got to the reckers ill pay more attention and make some mesurements.

Hey Quinn, I'm in the US. Thanks, but I don't think the van you speak of is over here. I was ckecking out Tiltons floor mount pedals w/ remote res..........Also, the angled intake mani sounds good...........How about this as a fix? I have a F10 master cyl w/ remote reservoirs that may help. There are no reservoirs on the top of the MC. Instead, two hoses come out the top to res you mount elsewhere. So if the above carb/filter setup hits ONLY my MC reservoirs....it'll work.

There are links to pics of the angled dual-sidedrafts and the single side-draft ... and others in the Which Carb? article.

It looks like Quinn's setup won't work on US 1200's. 10&20's is right - hits the MC itself. Thanks John............ How much power difference is there between single & dual carbs? Can custom intakes be made up like headers are?

Yes, there are several custom intakes in the Photo Album. There are indeed made up similar to headers, sometimes in steel even.

> How much power difference is there between single & dual carbs?

Probably not much. At top end of course 4 throttles have more airflow potential than two of the same size. So just put a bigger Weber on. For part-throttle, you lose the individual tuned runners so maybe a slight smoothness/torque potential loss (but side-drafts are almost never tuned for part-throttle anyways).

I run a Tilton pedal box in my left hand drive racecar. It is the reverse mount hanging pedal set up with twin brake masters for adjusting brake balance. It fitted in the Datto quite easily with a bit of cutting and welding to the original pedal box. I run all the fluid bottles on the dashboard where I can see them.
