Not sure if it's an LZ but it's in a Sunny Excellent... from the Pitroad website

Yep, Its an injected L14 twin cam and good for 240Ps @ 10500 rpm. They really are a beast of an engine.

Yeah it's a OS Giken crossflow DOHC head I think. Maybe there were other manufacturers? Feral? 240PS in a Sunny would be absolutely trouble in my hands. Plus the individual throttle bodies probably sound close to carbs making this one of the baddest motors to fit in a sunny.

Its not the OS GIKen head. The OS head has the carbs on the left side of the engine bay. This is the Nissan L twin cam 4V head, developed from the S20 Z twin cam and first used in the datsun works 110 Sunny Excellent in 1973. The L twin can cars were works race vehicles, never sold retail. They were an awesome beast and very successful racers. They became LZ's when the rocker cover changed to 6 bolts instead of 12, I have just found out.

I have been chasing data on these for a bit, as this looks like what I ideally want to do with my LZ14. Hard part is finding a PB210 Sunny Excellent for sale to put it in.

Say in detuned form (220 hp) in a light body, should enough to get the juices pumping I reckon.

I just love the way they sound at revs. Robert thompson's 510 (1600) sports sedan in 1998 had a very special sound that chilled your back bone. it always sounded like it was doing 10000 Rpm even if it was doing 7500 Rpm. Due to the cam gear drive assembly?

That would be four valves,....... per cylinder, probably of the "pent roof" combustion chamber design.
You might know of this design better as a 16 valve engine.

Imagine the angle of those inlet ports!!!!!
The baddest nissan NA engine would be the baddest in a sunny b10

Right on "D" man. Baddest engine + lightest body = biggest thrills. B10 series rule.

Well "Dodge" the twin cam L will be a reality thanxs to the ka24de head hybrid. Im having trouble locating a siamese l18 block and also someone to do the 90mm bores with c sleeves for reliability.

When you gotta go for a 'C' class sleve, then you are really talking thin parent metal in there. About the only thing thicker would be a wet sleve wouldn't it?
I was thinking about 'A' sleves for my 1200 engine for a safety margin at 77mm bore size.

Chris you dont need sleeves in you A.
they are thick enough to handle 77 providing you get your block sonic tested.
However if I was going sleeves in an A I would try to get 80mm with offset sleeves if possible.

 Re: Twin cam L
I already have the 77mm pistons & i want an engine that i can service with stock parts as much as possible, so i will sonic test the block & if there is any hint of thin wall[s] I will sleve it.
Oh yeah, with an 80mm bore, [if it could be done], my 1200 block with the 77mm stroke would displace 1548cc.
That's geting just a little too serious for me

Then who designed the head? It wasn't Yamaha, was it?
