Can anyone spot the rust?

Yeah... it's pretty severe. I guess the water was just not draining away properly. When you fix it up, make sure you put heaps of new drainage holes to avoid it happening again

It had a canopy on it and sweated where it was seating, once the holes opened up in top, it was all downhill.

how are you going to tackle this problem? It's a pretty big area of rust...

well, I leave that to the panel beaters, I know its cheating but I stick to what I know best. They are going to weld some patches, make it all steel again. Can't get LWB panels for them

 Re: Datsun ute side
I had almost identical rust on one side of my ute. But by some sort of miracle, I was visiting a panel beater mate and I noticed he had the replacement panel- original from nissan in 1976 hanging up on his wall as a decoration. It turns out, a cusstomer of his from '76 had crashed his ute and ordered the part, but never picked it up. Meanwhile I had seen the panel a million times and nevr thought twice about it untill I was really stressed out about trying to find one!

Its not cheating- how else are you supposed to fix it? unless you take a crash course in panel beating
