Compare the original 37mm and 30mm valves against the new 42mm and 33mm valves.

 Re: a15 racecylinderhead
Was jus looking around the site....

I'm using 42mm inlet valves on an Aseries Head. With the standard combustion chamber the valves r shourded(sp), So why not jus expand the combustion chamber by the inlet valve jus enough to give better flow? Valves should open up in a A15 block wid out out to much drama too.

hey jus realised it has 33m exhaust too did those valves come from a Fiat TC 8v engine(thats where mines came from ) or r they stainless steel items.

There way to big.

I'm think 40 and 32 would work the best with getting the air to flow in the ports ect.

So, .....
Some is good,
More is better,
Too much is just that, too much, no matter how you look at it

That is of course true, but these engines have been around for a while now, & people have done many things with them.

Most of what has been learned is now available for the asking [free] so sometimes, experiments can be like re-inventing the wheel.
The downside can be spending a lot of cash to find that there was no real benefit. What's worse, is discovering that this was well known for years.

Hopefully, this photo just shows a couple of valves placed in the hole for eyeballing. A very wise move.

42mm valve comes very close to the edge of the cylinder wall or to the combustion chamber. The close proximity of these surfases near the valve head increases flow restriction and reduces flow. There may be little or no increase in flow. In some cases larger valves can actually reduce low- and mid-lift flow. 40mm intake valve might be better choice.
