 Re: master cylinder stop
nice idea, does it flex that part of the body then?
and is there a plate on the other side of the strut tower to stop the bolts pulling thru?

 Re: master cylinder stop
dd,
Sorry for not replying but I havent looked at my pics for ages.
This unit is designed to stop any firewall flex in my rally car. It used to happen when standing on the brake pedal hard. The pushrod in the master cylinder would exert pressure on the master cylinder body via the compression of the brake fluid/seals/cups and the next weak point becomes the firewall. The standard firewall can flex up to 3mm under very hard braking, this is designed to stop it happening. It is mounted to the inside of the strut tower and plated on the other side to stop the mounting bolts pulling through the tower skin. It works very well and is a much quicker fix than plating and re enforcing the firewall itself and has meant that the feel of the brake pedal is more consistant. Hope this helps explain what it does and why it is fitted to the end of the master cylinder.
