this is the coupe, its pretty trashed. does the S in the center of the center badge and the GL on the right hand side of the grille mean anything.

It is more likly that a replacement grille was sourced through a used parts importer at some time in it's life. Many tons of parts for a wide variety of Japanese cars were sourced from Japanese wreckers, & many interesting parts were brought in as part of container loads of stuff. Many of the GX parts that exist in Australia came here this way.
My Datsun 1000 grille's "S" badge was found on a sedan with a replacement grille in the Sydney area, while my "GX 5 speed" badge came from a busted grill in a Jap parts specialist wrecker.

If this coupe has a basicly sound bodyshell, then hang onto it, as their number is being steadily diminished each year by neglect, hot car drivers that can't drive, unseen rust, racers in various classes, & a myriad of other causes.

If you can save one, you will not regret it.

thats not mine. dad picked it up from some dumb kid who didnt even no what it was. we were down at the local paddock bashing area getting lower control arms of a burnt out sunny and these two complete idiots came down wanting to get a wheel, we removed the wheel for them and started talking to them, he said he had a datto but didnt no what it was, all he knew was that it was a two door so after we finished we went arount to have a look expecting to see a sunny or something and it was that.

the kid had plans of putting a rotor in to it, i dont think he could spell besides put a new engine into that thing. we left our PH no and said that if he wanted to of load it to ring us
about an hour later this kid rang wanting $200 we said 150 and he acccepted.

the back end is in pretty good nicits just the front thats shagged if the chassis is twissted beyond repair we wont use it. but other wise it will be real slow biuld up.

and yes it does have a deease, its called NEGLECT

yes, the S stands for "Sunny" and the GL is "Grand Luxury", which is top-of-the-line (except for the twin-carb GX). It's a better trim level than was used in Australia or US. I notice that the door mirror is in a funny place too.

Look at the chassis plate under the hood. If it's in Japanese, this car is probably a Japan domestic model, imported.

Does it have any unusual inside bits, like different gauges, steering wheel, etc?

It may just be a different grill...

Any pics of the dash/interior?
