Blast from the past - showed up as the random photo on the home page.

The alternator is on the other side of the engine down low (Cherry same as B110 in this regard)

Reg Cook's 100a Cherry

For more on the gearbox, see Cherry Powertrain

the reason the box is so small is cause it was designed like the mini all the gears are suppossedly in the sump so i've been told by a mate from england who had one ova there

I heard you can change the clutch disc without removing the gearbox or engine ... is that true?

Tthe alternator is on the other side of the engine, eh?

Yes you can change the clutch without removing either the 'box or engine. It's quite a neat system but I treat mine gently when driving! The gearbox is separate with it's own oil - not like the mini which shares engine oil with the sump.

Yes this is the 4 speed and wow changing the clutch is that easy????!!!!
Would make a nice RWD midmount setup for some kit car. As for this rare beast.. its a shame not more where made.
Anyone know the weight of this baby?

Is the turbo 5 speed exa E series box compatible with the A series?

Looks exactly like the F5WF60A box in my A14 Pulsar. The same 5 speed and ratios were used through the A10 - A15. The 4 speed had different ratios for the A15. If this is the car I'm thinking about it runs a close ratio 4 speed. Is this the same car?
It is absolutely faultless - may have been restored since this photo as the engine bay is a lot tidier now.

hmmmm.. another chrome rocker cover.
if it is the same car as in the link above, its raced. what were we saying before about chrome rocker covers? not for racing cars?

looks good anyway! maybe its so that the mechanics can use it as a mirror to check out the bottom of the engine bay without getting under the car. it would save time when your racing...

That looks like a shot of the engine bay of the same car when it was orange. It is now owned by David Brown in Timaru and is still raced. It did win the Shellsport title which was for modified saloons up to 2 litres. The car still holds the lap record for Baypark Raceway , a track sadly ripped up for a housing development. The car was a factory built racer and was sent out for Reg Cook to drive. It was sold to the grumpy looking old guy in the black jacket standing behind the car in the linked photo but I can't remember his name. He kept it for years until David got it. He has the factory mechanical injection set up for the car which is worth heaps these days. It is a very very nicely restored car...

The injection was a magnesium flat slide throttle body setup, with modified BMW 2002 Tii Bosch mechanical injection. This is the same as used on the works B110 sunny race cars.

I believe this car ended up with a sequential gearbox, modified from a motorbike???

A most awesome piece of history.
