Sorry that it is grubby, but it will be porcelain coated soon enough.

The outlet gasket for the GX manifold is a unique part. Here it is compared to the larger, more common, L16 style.

Both the GX dual outlet or A14/15 single outlet have their advantages and disadvantages. I don't think one is any better than the other, especially if your running an unprepared motor.

Fortunately, i discovered that there were still a few left, so i bought all of them back in about '83. I still have enough to service my needs, but only just.

I would run one of these rather than tubular exhaust headers. For one thing they will last forever so to speak.

However, this design does not separate runner #1 & 4 an #2 & 3, which is desirable in a four cylinder (I read that in Petersen's Book of Datsun ...) so extractors/headers will still have an edge on power.

In the exhaust section of factory book, it says

"A GX standard part is recomended for rally use"

The tubular header is recomended for race use, but this manifold seems to be the goods for the kind of power that rally cars use. I'm guessing that the manifold has the edge in torque at lower engine speeds, & for street use, thats just exactly what i need.

Another benefit of using this manifold instead of a header here in the US anyway is that it looks more like a stock part so it may be easier to sneak past inspection. Neat pic - is this the same one? ebay auction

Sorry my friend, not even close.
The GX manifold is a dual outlet type with a three bolt flange. The manifold on offer is a single outlet type.

too true - the 1200GX performs heaps better than the 1200 and it cant Just be the SU's (and the hood) which make the GX That good :)

The GX had more cam & more compression, along with the obvious carbs & exhaust manifold. Those clever Datsun engineers also came up with a brilliant cylinder head that was not only just right for the engine it was on, but had plenty of scope for improvement as well.

Clever little buggers those Datsun engineers
